This Year’s Project

Product Vision: The Gardener’s Grove

Gardener’s Grove is a one-stop-shop application for gardeners, potential gardeners, and the wider community engaged with gardening or the environment in general. Gardener’s Grove is designed to make the life of gardeners better by recording the different plants in their garden, find information on ways to best care for plants, access historical and upcoming weather data. Gardeners can interact with the wider community by sharing images of their garden, offering advice on forums, giving away or selling plants and produce to those in their community.

On top of administrative and community features, this mobile-friendly web application may gather and collate data from Arduino sensors within a garden to provide metrics about garden health. And may allow for constructing a complete garden plan in two or 3 dimensions, that can be exported to a garden shopping list.

From this initial “vision” the opportunities are endless. This year’s cohort has shown courage and determination to explore various venues for their products so they could develop distinct software applications, as you will be able to see from their presentations.
